5. Texturing the face

 To texture the head i had to deconstruct how real skin works, so some parts are thicker than others and the thinner areas let more light in or show more capillaries which makes that area look more redish, for example the lips, some areas around the eyes and ears. 

By using Johnny Depp's images as references i first started with the red base and added purplish darker marks or lighter red to simulate the breakdown of the muscle with capillaries.

I then started working on the skin and reducing the skin colour in some areas to show more of the red.

using dirt brushes to break the colour down less uniformly





To simulate the roughness of the face i removed the roughness from the other layers and made one just for it. I then used a black mask and the dirt brush to paint the areas that are less rough according to the images.

I also imported the displacement map i made in zbrush into the curvature map slot and edited it to show the details more.
